Sometimes I look at a lit window and wonder about the life behind it. Someone might be finishing a conversation, opening a book, or spending an ordinary evening with people they love. From the street, we see only a small part of that world, while everything that gives it meaning remains out of view.
I painted this building as a collection of those glimpses. Each window contains a different scene, and I used changes in light and color to give each room its own atmosphere. The walls separate the people inside, but the painting brings their evenings together. I wanted to capture that feeling of looking at someone’s window and realizing they have a whole life you know nothing about, right next to yours.
